Yet, there are far more home buying in Texas and Florida compared to California. Though not all mortgage applications results in home closings, the numbers still tell the story of where people want to buy. NAR analysis of mortgage data (HMDA) shows top applications occurring in TX, FL, CA, NC, and GA. Interesting to note that NC has only 16 electoral college votes versus 28 in NY, yet NC easily beats NY in mortgage applications: 300,000 to 256,000.
